First sessions

Starting counseling

A relaxed conversation, not an interrogation. Your counselor asks what brings you in, what you've already tried, and what "better" would look like. Together you agree on goals and a session rhythm — or decide counseling isn't needed right now.

No. Most clients come without any diagnosis — feeling stuck, overwhelmed or flat is reason enough. And no referral is required; you can book directly with us.

Tell us briefly what's going on when you book and we'll match you by specialty and style. If the fit doesn't feel right after a session or two, switching counselors is normal, free of awkwardness, and always allowed.

Practicalities

Sessions, fees & scheduling

Individual sessions are $120 for 50 minutes; family and couples sessions are $150 for 60 minutes. A free 15-minute consultation comes first so you can decide with full information. Limited sliding-scale places are available — just ask.

Both. Our Westbrook office welcomes you Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, and secure video sessions follow the same plan and pricing. Mix and match as your weeks require.

Life happens — reschedule free of charge up to 24 hours before your session. Later cancellations are charged at half the session fee, and no-shows at the full fee.

Yes. Sessions are strictly confidential, with only the rare safety-related legal exceptions — which your counselor explains clearly before you begin sharing.

We are a scheduled practice, not an emergency service. If you or someone near you is in immediate danger, call 911 — or call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, free 24/7. Then come to us for the steady work afterward.
